Information About Bali - Legian

Legian is the region located between Kuta and Seminyak on the south of the west of Bali and is considered to be within the greater Kuta district. Legian is home to a large array of hotels typically ranging from the mid range towards the top end of the market with a good variety of styles located right on the beach and all around this coastal area. The beach scene and the whole area of Legian has a more laid back and sophisticated feel than in it’s southern counterpart and is more suited to couples and families rather than the budget traveler, this being said there are certainly some lovely places up for grabs which really don’t break the bank as well as some large international resorts and villa complexes which could be considered top end accommodation. The Legian hotels are located on 30 minutes from the international airport and has excellent access to the rest of the island as well as plenty of scope for activities and tourist facilities including some excellent deals on trips, tours and adventures.

Generally as with Kuta you will find many traditional Balinese hotels in Legian displaying the real Balinese house styles as well as some more modern hotels in Legian, you will tend to find the modern and more boutique style resorts further north towards the Seminyak area and the traditional hotels are often dotted around the area as well as the ‘mod ethnic’ Legian Hotels which are a subliminal marriage of the traditional Balinese styles and the modern luxury tropical hotel concepts in order to create the now world famous Bali style hotel. This is a concept which is being imitated all over the world in tropical locations and is definitely one of the popular choices with modern travelers. The clue is generally in the name, if the name is Balinese it will probably be traditional, if the name is in a European language then usually you are looking at a modern resort.

All of the Legian Hotels offer at least one pool and excellent facilities, generally the larger or more exclusive the hotel, the more extensive and desirable the facilities will be. Many of the larger Legian Hotels have three or four large pool areas as well as several dinning options and bars, sports facilities such as tennis courts and almost always an extensive spa located onsite. These Hotels are often located either on the beach or extremely close to the beach and are out of the way of the main strip of Jalan Legian and the rest of the busier areas. Another advantage of these hotels is that they are close to the shopping areas and only small distance to the main life of the Legian area which exists in small tropical bars in the area, the large clubs further south and the sophisticated dining and entertainment of Seminyak. There are in this area also some boutique style smaller hotels which offer humble yet divine services including much quieter pools and spa services as well as all of the other amenities such as trips.
